Je trouve que dans cet opus, nos personnages sont différents. Ils ont tous armés et se servent de leur arme, alors que dans le 5, leurs armes étaient leurs voitures. J'apprécie toujours autant l'humour dégagé, mais je le répète, mon épisode préféré reste le 5. J'ai quand même passé un bon moment à regarder ce film. Dans les interminables aventures de Fast & Furious, les bolides ont le beau rôle. Au point que le casting automobile apparait aussi important que celui des acteurs. En tout cas indissociable. Vin Diesel sans sa Dodge, ce serait un peu comme Julianne Moore sans ses tâches de rousseur. La bagnole devient un composant essentiel de l’identité du personnage. Une affaire de goûts aussi. "L’affrontement entre les styles de voitures constitue l’ADN de Fast & Furious", nous a confié Vin Diesel dans l’article paru ce mois-ci dans GQ "Pourquoi Fast & Furious est un film intelligent . Dans le film donc, les voitures sont à l’image des héros multiculturelles. Il y a des américaines bien sûr, mais aussi des allemandes, des anglaises et des italiennes. Elles forment une communauté automobile éclectique, mi-vintage mi-moderne, à base de custom et de grosses cylindrées. Toutes sont des bolides rugissants prêts à réaliser les pires cascades. Au total, 300 voitures ont été utilisées pour les besoins du film, parmi lesquelles 200 ont fini à la casse ! On passera sur les incontournables Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang et autre Plymouth Baracouda qui assurent le gros du spectacle, honneur yankee oblige. La sélection réserve quelques surprises comme la Ford Mark Escort en tenue de rallye avec sa jolie robe bleue et blanche. Loin des supercars et autres muscle cars, cette "youngtimer" européenne de la fin des années 70 semble la caution anti-bling du film. La preuve qu’il n’est pas nécessaire d’être un poids lourd pour intégrer la bande de Vin Diesel. Autre curiosité, qui montre la sophistication montante des choix automobiles dans Fast & Furious, la Jensen Interceptor, magnifique coupé anglais de 1973 dotée d’une lunette arrière incurvée. Rare, mythique et oubliée du grand public, cette pépite est ici largement revisitée avec une peinture mate, des bandes noires et un gros pot d’échappement courant le long des bas de caisse. Sans oublier son gros V8 de 480 ch. Toujours dans le même esprit british, on remarquera aussi le fabuleux roadster vert et jaune Lister 470, construit par le carrossier américain Lucra. Radical avec son mini-pare-brise et ses deux arceaux, l’engin accélère de 0 à 100 km/h en 3 secondes grâce à son moteur de 550 ch. D’autres apparitions du film pourront faire sourire ou grincer des dents. On pense à cette Alfa Romeo Giulietta de série, dont on sent bien qu’elle a été placée pour d’évidentes raisons marketing, certainement pas pour occuper le haut de l’affiche. Mais il faut bien quelques courtisanes pour faire recette... En contrepartie, la production a développé son propre bébé, la terrible Flip Car qui semble tout droit sortie d’un Mad Max. Elle, au moins, a toute sa légitimité. Avec son capot en forme de tremplin, elle sert à faire sauter les voitures, en leur fonçant dessus.
